This custom version of the modular Woven Bench Seat uses two different wool pelts inter-woven to form a plush wrap surrounding the cactus leather and latex inner. The Spotted Gum legs have been stained chocolate and finished with a hard-wax oil, rather than the standard clear waxed timber. This design was developed for the Wilson & Dorset x Kelly Thompson exhibition The Sheepskin Suite, for Melbourne Design Week 2026.
Each unit is defined by a generously sized cushion, using natural sap latex in place of conventional plastic foam, and secured using a corset weave underneath. Set within a powder-coated steel frame and softened by waxed Spotted Gum legs and subtle brass detailing, the flat-pack bench units are designed to connect along either edge, allowing the composition to shift and expand in response to the user’s needs.
