The newest addition to the Bound collection features smoky glass suspended above cork discs and sheet metal, skirted by the shadows of molten aluminium. The soft patina of the hand-polished metal body is preserved underneath a smooth wax coating, wrapped in undyed Danish cord and anchored with a woven spine. Celebrating the allure of the subtle imperfections present in hand crafted objects, the Bound Table is a tribute to the hand of the maker.
The Bound collection was originally developed to address concerns of environmental impact in furniture design, utilising only available materials and fully recyclable elements to create designer furniture that minimises this impact both in construction and at the end of the products life; continuing this ethos, the bound table design incorporates paper, aluminium, glass, cork and carnauba wax. The table can be readily disassembled into base components for repair or recycling.
The bound table is currently on display at Craft Victoria, Watson Place, VIC 3000.
